The European basketball championships called Eurobasket 2011 will be the 37th continental championship organized by FIBA Europe. The competition will take place in Lithuania from 31 August to 18 September. This will be the second time Lithuania has hosted Eurobasket and the first time since independence renew in 1990. Lithuania has hosted the European Championship in basketball in 1939.
For the first time the championship will include a record number of 24 teams compared with 16 pervious championships.
